For
quick reference, we suggest the following tips for care & maintenance of
your natural stone countertop.
GENERAL CLEANING:
Spray
clean or wash areas that have dirt residue with Revitalizer Granite Cleaner and
buff dry.Do not use cleaners with ammonia, bleach, vinegar, oils, waxes or
any abrasive cleaners (such as Soft-Scrub or Comet)
If
your new granite countertops have just been sealed, please do not try to clean
the counter for at least 24 hours, to allow the sealer to cure. If a hazing occurs, use Glass Plus and a
Scotch Brite pad (green side) to clean off excess sealer haze.
Avoid
leaving products such as, decorative oil bottles, pizza boxes, greasy food pans
(turkey pan) on the countertop for prolonged periods of time.If you have a spill of a strongly colored
food, such as fruit juice, coffee or red wine, wipe up the spill immediately.
SEALING
Sealing
is recommended for areas that are exposed to food, oils, dyes, or high water
usage. We recommended that you seal you
countertops, depending on the stone every 1-3 years. If you have purchased a lighter colored
stone, which is more porous, we would suggest that you re-apply a sealer as
needed. Please give us a call if you
have any questions!
Sealing
is very easy, but we suggest doing it on a day you can open the windows, since
it emits some strong fumes the first hour.
Application:
Wipe sealer on with a lint-free cloth (an
old tee shirt works well). Let the
sealer sit for approximately 5 minutes If any excess sealer has dried on the surface you will need to wipe up
first with more sealer to break down the excess. Buff dry with a clean lint free cloth. Let sit overnight and your ready to go.
POSSIBLE
COMPLICATIONS:
If
you have any problems with staining, usually grease (food stains) or an acidic
stain (salsa or red wine), a poultice can be used to draw the stain from the
stone. A powdered poultice can be
purchased and mixed with a acting agent such as mineral spirits or hydrogen
peroxide to treat the stain.
